VeggieTales the Penniless Princess – Review

No stranger to the VeggieTales world, when opportunity blew dust in my face there was no way I could sneeze this one out the door! My daughter and I popped some popcorn, grabbed blankets, our favorite pillows and snuggled in for some perfect Mommy & Me time.

The Penniless Princess: God’s Little Girl is a fabulous story about princess Sara. As with all VeggieTales movies, there is a wonderful lesson built into the storyline. The Penniless Princess did not disappoint! Perfectly geared towards a four year old full on diva princess viewer (otherwise known as my daughter), Sara captured and held the attention of both mom and daughter.

Starting her adventures in life at a point where she has every ruffled, frilly, tulle encumbered dress and matching shoes a little girl could want along with a hoard of giggly friends, Sara is a very likeable fun girlie girl. As happens often in real life, Sara’s life experiences dramatic and sudden changes. New friends, a new school and she is thrown into a life offering her little in the way of materialistic things. She goes from rags to riches and is suddenly at a loss as to who she is and if she is still really a princess inside.

Learning self worth and where it comes from is a super important lesson especially in the life of a little girl. Remembering the lessons her father taught her, Sara demonstrates and teaches viewers that true worth comes from looking at yourself through God’s eyes. By keeping a positive attitude regardless of the situation, and knowing your self worth will always properly place material “things” in life as inconsequential to the true you.
