I love taking pictures of my children and family, in fact, I think that it’s a rule in the mom handbook.  My husband and I make a point to take lots of pictures of the boys while they are growing up.  It’s extremely important to my husband because the first six years of his life he spent in his native country of El Salvador and he just doesn’t have a whole lot of pictures of himself from when he was a child.  I think he has about six or seven total.  So it has been a goal of ours that each of our boys have tons of pictures to look back at when then they are older.

One thing that we did for each of our boys when they were babies was to have their portrait taken and framed.  Now that they have all gotten bigger, but not too big, it’s time to get a large portrait of the three of them together.  We just never seemed to get the money together to set up a portrait session.  Thankfully last Thanksgiving we finally had a wonderful family picture session with a Seattle area photographer and we captured a priceless picture of all three of the boys together.  For the last 10 months I have been meaning to find out how I can get it put on a canvas but I have been putting it off because I thought that it just wasn’t in the budget.  So when an opportunity to review Easy Canvas Prints came to me I was super excited!

After I placed my order I was SO excited to see how it would turn out!  Luckily for me my canvas print came extremely fast, I think I had it in about a week’s time.  The day it came I couldn’t wait to get it out of the packing, which by the way, it was very securely wrapped and held perfectly protected in it’s box.

Aren’t my boys just the cutest?  It’s hard to believe that this picture was taken last Thanksgiving – boy how they have grown!  Check out how it looks on my wall next to the boys’ baby portraits:

 

The canvas itself is the same size as the other portraits but the frame is something that I might want to add later to make it fit in just a bit better.  I do love that the image is wrapped around the edge of the frame so that guests will see that all though there isn’t a frame the canvas has a finished look to it.  Here is a picture of the image wrap up close:

 

 

All in all, I love Easy Canvas Prints.  It really was an easy process to transform my favorite photo of my sons into a beautiful canvas that my husband and I will always treasure.  I would definitely go back to them for any future photos that I would like to see on my wall.  I’m even considering blowing up my Pretty Pink Momma logo into a canvas for my home office, I think that would be such a great way to define what my workspace is all about.

Thankfully my grandma caught her cancer in its early stages and was able to overcome it. I am proud to say that she has been cancer free for several years now.

When my grandmother was diagnosed the reality began to set in that I too could be at risk for breast cancer. I make it a point to check myself regularly as well as get my annual breast exam. Since the possibility is there I want to make sure that if I ever have breast cancer that I can detect it early, just as my grandma did. Early detection makes all the difference.

My Results

I knew that I needed a full two hours to get the full affect of the Crest 3D 2 Hour White Express Whitestrips.  As pathetic as it is, I pretty much take two hours to get ready before I go anywhere so I figured that using the whitestrips while I got ready was the perfect use of time.  Plus I wouldn’t be hungry or tempted to eat because when I am in getting ready mode I don’t stop for snacks.  Which is really important when using the whitestrips because it is suggested that you not eat.  All though I don’t see how you could or why you would want to try.

So I was a little nervous about using them because I was afraid that a super white formula would have a funky taste and I wouldn’t be able to handle it.  After I applied the whitestrips I was relieved to find that they had no taste at all.  It did take a minute to get used to the whitestrips on my teeth but I got over it quickly because I was in getting ready mode and I needed to get a move on if I was going to make my hair appt.  I was surprised to find that the whitestrips never felt like they were going to come off.  I killed two hours quickly by showering, figuring out what I was going to wear to the salon and then later that evening, doing my makeup and somewhat doing my hair before my appt.

When the two hours was up I was so excited to take the whitestrips off and reveal a bright white smile!  Let me tell you… those strips were on tight!  I thought that I could just slide them off into a napkin without anyone at my breakfast noticing but that wasn’t possible.  I had to actually pick a corner with my fingernail and pull them off.  When they came off both my husband and I coudn’t believe how white my smile was!

Pretty amazing results right?  I think so!  I have been doing a little smile upkeep by also using the Crest 3D Whitening Toothpaste.  Overall I am very impressed with this product and I would definitely recommend it.  I did notice that my teeth looked the whitest and brightest right after removing the whitening strips.  Once I ate the brightness faded a little bit.  I wish that they could have stayed super bright longer.  I can definitely see how using these strips just prior to an event would be the best use of them.  I will definitely be using them in the future for my next event that I am looking to dazzle folks with my smile. Even though the brightness faded a little my teeth are still much whiter and brighter than they were.  I am very pleased with my results!

Can You Really Have a Whiter Smile in Just TWO Hours?

Is it really possible to have a whiter smile in just 2 hours?  I hope so.  In truth I hate to say it but I don’t have the brightest smile.  I want one, I really do, but I just haven’t been able to afford a professional whitening from a dentist.  I am also way too lazy to do the repeat at home treatments.  I would do the first one but I never got around to the second.  Or it seemed that I would put off the whitening treatments until the day before the event that I wanted my teeth to be at their whitest and one treatment is all I had time for.  So when I heard about the Crest 2 Hour 3D White Strips I knew that it was a product that was made for a gal like me in mind.

There is often a debate between working moms and stay at home moms – who has the tougher job?  Well as it turns out they both lie awake at night worrying about the same things, according to a survey of over 700 mothers conducted by EverSave , a top daily deal site that targets deal for women and their families.  Here are some of the statistics that they pulled from their survey that I found really interesting, all though not surprising to me, because even though I am a SAHM now in the past I have been a working mom.

 

For both mothers who work outside the home and those who parent full-­‐time, the same concerns keep them awake:

  • Money stress: 71%
  • Worrying about their kids: 53%
  • Finding time for their spouse/significant other: 45%
  • Preparing meals/managing the household: 33%

During waking hours, the majority of moms said they never finish their to-do lists, and as a result they take some pretty creative steps to get it all done.  In fact, moms will:

  • Stuff clutter into closets or dirty dishes in the oven before guests come over: 66%
  • Serve their children fast food more than once per week: 58%
  • Give in to a child’s temper tantrum in order to save time: 47%
  • Let children dress in mismatched clothes to get to school/work on time: 38%

 

Basically any way you cut it moms have tons of their plate and its a tough job to keep a household and family running smoothly.  I have to say that I definitely agree with the findings of their survey.  I can relate to all of that!  Almost daily I end up giving in to a temper tantrum just to get the kids to school on time.  I used to be a freak about my boys matching their clothes too but I quickly realized that if it saved time and kept the morning running smoothly that it wasn’t worth the argument.  Besides, they are boys so some mismatching is to be expected right?  As far as the fast food and the stuffing clutter into closets – guilty on those counts too.  I haven’t put dirty dishes in the oven before, so thanks for the tip there EverSave!

How I Find Ways to “Do It All”

As you might all ready know, Sarah Jessica Parker is coming out with a new movie on September 16th called, “I Don’t Know How She Does It”.  Parker’s character is a working mom that is doing her best to juggle work and home life, constantly stressing about all that is on her plate.  Being a busy SAHM/WAHM I can relate because just like the other mom’s surveyed, I too lay awake at night making mental notes of the things I did or did not accomplish each day.  There are few things that help me “do it all” and juggle the many facets of my day.

The first, and most important thing in my opinion, is having a great day planner.  I have a huge one that details everything out by month, day and week for not only myself but my husband and children’s schedules as well.  I organize all of my appointments, reviews, giveaways, emails and more in this planner.  If I take a periodic brake from using it all hell breaks loose and I get nothing accomplished.  It is the bloodline of my blog and my life.

I admit it, I am a list maker.  Lists help me stay organized.  I have lists on my phone, lists in my day planner and lists on my fridge.  When I have a bigger list I might even write it twice.  The first time just to get the list written and the second time I write the tasks in order of priority.  There are certain things that have to be done each day and if I don’t have them written down I am liable to forget something important.

For all of those random thoughts that run in my mind I love having my smart phone.  I keep it near me at all times so that way if I something I need to remember later pops in my head I have a place to jot it down.  This comes in really handy when I am drifting off to sleep.  You know how you just start to relax and then you completely remember something that you need to do the next morning?  Well for those moments I keep my phone by my bed so I can actually stay in my bed instead of what I used to do which was run out of bed and write up a post it note.

The last thing that really helps me “do it all” is to keep a schedule.  If I have the same routine each day then I can find the time to delegate tasks to different parts of the day depending upon what my schedule is.  When you have a day that doesn’t go according to schedule – and we all do – it makes it easier to get back on track with our tasks on the to do list when we settle back in to our regular routine.  It’s so true that there is comfort in a routine.

All Moms Deserve a Little Me Time Right?

I do a lot for my home and my family and I like to treat myself every once in awhile to relieve some of the stress.  I used to treat myself to a professional massage every 2-3 weeks.  They were wonderful!  Since moving to a rural area the nearest massage place is about an hour away so I have to resort to my next favorite thing which is a mani/pedi day!  I LOVE getting my nails done!  I have always gotten regular pedicures but recently I tried out a new manicure with gel nail polish and it made my nails look FABULOUS.  It’s my new favorite thing and it’s so great to treat my hands to gorgeous looking nails.  Something I haven’t done since before I was pregnant – NINE years ago.

I think that it’s important for every mom to have a little me time on a regular basis.  It’s rejuvenating and it makes coping with all the stresses of balancing life just that much easier to take on.  We all need that little break from reality from time to time to let our minds unwind.  I don’t know about you but for me I know that my family loves when I come back in an awesome and happy mood, ready to take on the world again.
